Part One Of Two : - Here is another Big Don archived news special, this time from The TCN 9 Vault of 1986, must be advancing in years as the memories are still vivid from those times, although the fashion & kit of course certainly looks '80's. Nice to see one of New Zealand's best exports, Brian Hendo Henderson showing some of today's newsreaders how it's done. I know everything I need to know, cause Brian told me so, was the The Nine mantra of the time, good for Nine's overall budget too as Melbourne's GTV had another Brian, Brian Naylor doing the same gig & same jingo. Naylor died in the Victorian Black Saturday fires of 2009, a great loss to the people of that State. Some of the main stories of the time were : Dollar Dives. Roger The Dodger Rogerson faces dismissal from NSW Police, gotta love The Dodger's Bentley though ! Not the best career move to help Koreans like this : A couple of Aussie Customs Officers show how to supplement their 1980's income, surely they could have moonlighted as Dodger Deputies & not been caught ? We should all feel very lucky that we live in a new Millennium where our public officials are as honest as the day is long, that's not including daylight savings of course. Australian Government concerned about US stealing Aussie wheat markets. The case of the dissolving betting slips. (Would NSW Coppers come to a watery end ?) Nifty Nev Wran gives another Premier Bazza his smiling endorsement (but we knew Neville was just being kind.) John Howard ...
